Disk I/O or usage

Hey would it be possible to implement something like a disk usage number or percentage? Like in the Windows Resource Monitor, they give the disk activity in kb/s and the Highest Active Time percent value. Would be really cool for the G15 LCD :D

Thanks

I used the disk usage gauges and had one question; would it not make more sense if the free space reported usage in reverse? That is, the indicator to turn red when the disk runninng out of space, rather than when it has a lot of free space?

Thanks for continuing to provide the best monitoring software there is.

Yes, of course such a reverse gauge would be more suited for the drive space items, but we currently have no such gauge designs in AIDA64. We may add such gauge variants soon ;)

the new disk usage is great! Is the program able to show a hard drive read and write percentage? Or something like page fault delta reading in the task manager?

Currently such type of disk performance measurement is not supported by AIDA64.  We may implement it sometime later this year.

The feature I've always wanted added was SMART warnings.  AIDA can look at SMART data on the drives, I'd like it if it could do something like check the data at launch and at some configureable time, and if any of the status isn't "ok", for it to present a warning.

@Fiery,

I know you have been very busy, but I was wondering if any progress was being made regarding fixing the disk usage issue?

Thanks, and keep up the excellent work.

We've implemented reverse gauges in the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at:

http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild2430wz0k3xtrlnzip

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Let me know how it works ;)

That's because you manually have to set the Type field for your gauges to either Black (Reverse) or White (Reverse).  We've chosen the manual way because for example for cooling fans some of us prefer to have the "red" region in the bottom of the scale (to indicate too slowly spinning fans), while others may prefer to have the "red" region at the end of the scale (to indicate too high RPM).

We've implemented disk activity measurement in the latest AIDA64 beta update available at:

http://www.aida64.com/downloads/latesta64xebeta

Please note that the Performance tab of Windows Task Manager seems to measure the read and write speeds not in the classic MB/s or GB/s measurement units. It uses a divisor of 1000 instead of 1024, and that leads to displaying higher values than AIDA64. We stick to using the classic divisor and classic interpretation of MB/s and GB/s.

Also note that the current hardware monitor module of AIDA64 supports up to 10 disk drives when measuring disk activity. If you have more drives and would like us to expand the limit of 10 drives, let me know.
