EVGA Z77FTW - CPU Temp Sensor Stuck

Recommended Posts

Hi,

New motherboard, new technical issues :D FUN! I sent an email, but then remembered we get good support via this forum.

CPU temp stuck at 111c! lol, but the CPU package and cores look good. Issue is the CPU fan seems to run based on the CPU temp, it's stuck at 100 percent.

Here's the right click, Sensor Debug, ISA Sensor Dump.

Thank you for helping!

We've checked other E699 logs, and it seems only yours have such issues about CPU temperature readout.  We've also checked our code about E699, to make sure AIDA64 reads the proper register, but it looks fine.  Do you have the same high CPU temperature readings in the BIOS Setup and in EVGA E-LEET?  If yes, then it seems to be either a BIOS issue or a temperature diode malfunction.

No, I don't think you should be so drastic ;)  First try to contact EVGA and ask them about the E-LEET CPU temperature reading discrepancy vs. BIOS Setup readings.  If they supply you with a fixed EVGA E-LEET, then the CPU reading may come from the same wrong place in E-LEET and AIDA64, and the BIOS Setup provides the best values.  In such case we'll also fix AIDA64 ;)

They suggested I RMA the board as they thought there was a stuck temperature sensor, but I think it's their BIOS...

I just got the board this past Saturday so will return it to my local store for a replacement.

If the same thing happens I'll have some ammunition to ask for a BIOS fix from EVGA.

I  was hoping the situation would be reversed, you offer some info I could go back to EVGA with :), but it looks like the path of least resistance is a board swap since I'm in my 30 day return period.

Thanks Fiery!

Once in a while my cpu temperature gets stuck too, however shutting down the pc for a few moments completeley unstucks it.

I did some research and found a few posts from people with the same problem and in most cases switching the board or updating bios didnt help, but switching the cpu did...which would indicate that the specific cpu temp sensor which controls fan speed is located directly inside the cpu, not on the motherboard.
