New LCD device support: Matrix Orbital

Recommended Posts

We've added support for several Matrix Orbital USB character based and monochrome graphical LCD displays, including LK, MX, PK, VK, GLK, GLT, GX Typhoon, and their drive-bay and external variants as well.

You can enable the LCD device from AIDA64 / main menu / File / Preferences / Hardware Monitoring / LCD. The only thing needed to enable this feature is having the appropriate Matrix Orbital USB LCD drivers installed, and the LCD to be connected to a USB port. You can verify if your device is supported by AIDA64 by finding the device on the Devices / USB Devices page in AIDA64, and checking its Device ID. It should be one of the following IDs:

0403-FA02

Due to their interface bottleneck BGK, EGLK, GLK and GLT displays perform display updates quite slowly, so visual discrepancies may be experienced when using the GLK (graphics) protocol on these displays. It is possible to use the LK (character based) protocol on GLK displays as well, which will work much faster. In order to switch between the GLK and LK protocols, you need to first disable the GLK protocol (in AIDA64 / main menu / File / Preferences / Hardware Monitoring / LCD), and then enable the LK protocol on the same page. Ignore the error, and restart AIDA64 to apply the switch.

You can find the new AIDA64 beta update at:

Please let us know if you find any difficulties enabling or using this new feature. Also let us know if you've got another kind of LCD device that is currently unsupported by AIDA64. BTW, Abacom, AlphaCool, Digital Devices, LCD2USB, Mad Catz Venom, and SDC Megtron LCDs are also supported now by the latest AIDA64 beta.

Fiery

Sooo, GTT didn't made it to the 5.00? Is there still a chance soon?

We had to put that project on hold. It's very difficult to properly handle the GTT, especially when you've got a lot of sensor items on your layout. The GTT interface has a lot of constraints, and we have to make a lot of compromises and apply a lot of workarounds to get around the GTT limitations. We've focused (and still focus) our efforts on the RemoteSensor and Logitech Arx modules, since they target a lot more potential users than the GTT module, and those modules are far less easier to develop and maintain than the GTT module. Using RemoteSensor or Logitech Arx, you can use a much better, and much more sophisticated LCD layout than what you would ever be able to achieve with the GTT.

Hi!

Correct - it does NOT update the onboard flash.

Choosing "white" for example in Aida it does NOT permanently change the back light to white - its only white while Aida is open.

If you close Aida then whatever color you've chosen in the Matrix Orbital tool returns.

GX Typhoon RGB backlighting control will be implemented in the next AIDA64 beta update due in a few days from now. It will add 2 more sliders next to the current Brightness slider. The old slider will be responsible for controlling the intensity of the red backlighting component, and the 2 new sliders will be for blue and green.

We've found a way to get around the slow serial connection issue about GTT displays, and implemented support for USB-connected GTT devices in the latest AIDA64 beta update:
