SSD/HDD OSD items/labels messed up after wake from sleep

Hi,

 

I notice that after updating to AIDA64 Extreme 5.70.3861 Beta, the SSD/HDD OSD items and labels, associated with temperatures, are sometimes mixed up or not showing after waking from sleep. Only a Windows restart seems to correct it. This happens even after deleting the aida64.ini file and having a new one created from scratch with correct information.

Please right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Disk Debug --> ATA Dump. Copy-paste the full results into this topic, or attach the results as a TXT file to your post. You may need to enable status bar in AIDA64 / main menu / View first.

Then please create those dumps once more, after the AIDA64 OSD gets mixed. We need all 4 of those dumps to see what's going on after sleep on your system ;)

Also, these images may be useful. Note that the temperature shown for HDD0 in osd_after_sleep image is really the temperature for SSD0 (Samsung 950 Pro). What happens after wake from sleep is not consistent.

The issue is because for some reason your SATA controller fails to provide stable readings for drive model ID, serial number and revision. That will then cause AIDA64 to fail sorting out redundant entries in the SATA drives list. Example of the issue, as you can see in the SMART dumps:

"PN CS1311 120GB SSD" vs. "PNY CS1311 120GB SSD"

and

"Samsun SSD 850 EVO 250G" vs. "Samsung SSD 850 EVO 250GB"

Please try to update Intel RST drivers. Hopefully that will sort this issue out.

Updating Intel RST drivers appears to have corrected the SSD/HDD issue. Can't find "PN " or Samsun " in any of the latest disk debug dumps either, they're there in the dumps before the update as you indicated. But now a phantom Cooling Fan OSD item "Fan #21" is showing up for the first time. Doesn't seem to be GPU fan related and permanently reads 0 RPM. See attached (after wake from sleep).

Do you have a smart PSU or a USB-connected sensor device like Aquaero or Corsair Link?

CPU cooler is an H100iGTX that uses Corsair Link. But the Fan #21 device hasn't appeared since updating to the 3869 beta. The problem now is the occasional loss of water pump sensor after waking from sleep. This is a Corsair Link USB driver problem. Wasn't happening before updating to latest Intel IRST driver. Jury is still out as to whether the update fixed the SSD/HDD issue.

Running the latest RST drivers, please create a new ATA Dump and SMART Dump, before and after sleep.

As for the water pump issue, try to enable both Asetek LC sensor support and Corsair Link sensor support in AIDA64 / main menu / File / Preferences / Stability, and restart AIDA64.

Max file size for attachments is now 4.44KB, can't attach any of the dumps. I could the other day.

 

When the water pump sensor is lost to AIDA64, it's also lost to the HWINFO64 monitoring program. I'm therefore assuming that the issue is not specific to AIDA64. Running devcon.exe to disable then enable the CL USB driver corrects the issue whenever this happens. Does what you suggested do something similar?

Please try it again. There was a silly limitation in the forum settings that we've now fixed ;)

As long as it's enabled in the Stability settings, and the driver is properly installed, AIDA64 should be able to read the sensor values from your water cooler device.

FWIW, I created a scheduled task triggered on system event ID 107 ("the system has resumed from sleep"). It restarts AIDA64 if found to be running. Problem solved.

Thank you for letting us know about your workaround. We've tried to replicate the issue on our own test systems, but without a luck. I don't like to say it, but I really have no idea what's wrong on your system. Could be a timing issue, a BIOS pecularity or even a driver bug.
