Water Temp from ASUS Maximus IX Code

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I just finished building my latest PC, it has the ASUS Maximus IX Code motherboard.  I do have a water cooling setup, and was wondering if there was a way to have ADIA64 read the water temp from the Motherboard.

The motherboard has 3 sets of pins for water cooling sensors (water temp in and water temp out) and a flow meter as well.  I'm really more interested in monitoring the water temp, they use a standard 10kOhm temp sensor.

In AIDA64, there isn't a sensor that corresponds to those motherboard sensors.  Is that something that I can configure?  Or do they not show up until I add a sensor?

I can see the sensors with the ASUS software but I would rather use AIDA.

Thanks for your help!

-J

WATER_IN and WATER_OUT temperature cannot be monitored, since they would require EC (Embedded Controller) bank switching, which is a dangerous thing to do on Asus motherboards.  Switching the EC bank could cause system instability or even lockup.

WATER_FLOW fan header is monitored, but it will only appear in AIDA64 if you have a fan or pump connected to it.

Thanks for the quick reply.  Based on your response it sounds like this isn't something that will ever be possible.

That is a bummer.  Thanks for your help!

In case Asus finally implements the industry standard synchronization mutexes that AIDA64 and roughly a dozen other monitoring software already use for years, then we can add the missing temperatures.  We've been pestering Asus about that issue for years, without luck so far though.....

We've implemented Asus EC bank switching in the latest AIDA64 beta build:

https://www.aida64.com/downloads/latesta64xebeta

You need to enable both Embedded Controller (EC) support and Embedded Controller (EC) bank switching in AIDA64 / main menu / File / Preferences / Stability.  That will unlock a few additional sensor readings on your motherboard.  Make sure to not have Asus AI Suite or any of its background services installed on your system.  If you have any of those left around, a collision may occur while AIDA64 tries to perform EC bank switching, and it may just cause a system lockup or sudden system restart.
