What sensor items are you trying to monitor?  And what is your preferred display size?

There is a tutorial on youtube usint Inkscape.  I watched one where he shows how to make a gauge that could be modified to something similar to this.

you should be able to modify most 800x480 ones.  just flip and re arrange.

I am going to be using this with a 5 inch LCD panel in the landscape orientation.
