    my problem was nothing to do with AIDA. When I installed the card, replacing a GTX 780, I uninstalled the software and then installed Nvidia 344.16 and everything looked fine. I diceided though to unisntall using DDU and then re-install the Nvidia drivers and this did the trick. When will I learn? :-)
