  1. Had them all... the best MS Security essentials why? FREE and does the job with no intervention and very few resources, you must remember that viri are not like they use to be, the OS has been tightened up and most panic statement to users are now from AV developers trying to sell their product ;)

  2. I don't quite know if there is a question in there or not! however, I'll try to explain, the motherboard has a separate sensor that measures it's temp, the location and reason for location is only known to ASUS!

ASUS also place a probe close to the CPU to measure it's temp this will normally be lower than the actual CPU temp due to it not being actually on the CPU, thirdly there is the CPU itself, I make reference here only to Intel CPUs' but you can measure the individual core temps of the CPU one of these will normally be hotter than the others and most people wanting an accuratete readings will refer to one of the core temps as the CPU temp.

So in summary you will have a Motherboard temp, not related in any way to the CPU, a CPU temp that is not actually of the CPU! but not related to the Motherboard an finally CPU core temps which reflect accurately the true temp of the CPU which has nothing to de with the motherboard unless the motherboard is on fire ;)

  3. I think the present display is functional, it's not a work of art but then it's not meant to be, it's an informational display tool and in that context it's perfect for letting the user know what's goin on in his sytem.

If we start getting into the athsetics of how that information is displayed it will take away from what the tool is, after all beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

  4. Thanks for reply David,

I think I'm fail on the syntax... can't get a web address to fly either.

In the URL field I've tried:

"C:\Program Files\AIDA64 Extreme Edition\aida64.exe", with and without the quotes (copied from Start menu)

    and I also tried:

    http://www.aida64.com/ and http://www.aida64.com/

    with no luck.

    Dutch

If that is the address of your aida64.exe file then when you double click on the image in the sensor panel that the URL is associated with it should open the program..... does for me

Another thought, make sure that your image is at the top of the layer! by that I mean the image is not behind say your background or control item.

  5. That .dll is part of SQL Server Performance Acquisition DLL, I believe from version 9 of Microsofts SQL server.

Now AIDA64 might be using that but I can tell you on my sytem that AIDA64 is monitoring everything it can Resource Monitor shows AIDA64 averaging 0.64% use! so at 10% I think something else might be going on in your system.

What frequency of system polling have you set?

  6. Since I have the ability to change the text of any sensor displayed by the OSD, why not allow us to change the icons as well?

For example, the icon displayed for the "Power Supply" cooling fan is a battery, and I also see the same icon used for the VRM temperature sensor.

I would like to be able to make a fan sensor display a fan icon or, since I am currently using that fan header for my RAM cooling fan, the memory icon.

The VRM could show a DIP icon like the Northbridge.

Given recent discussions this would make a lot of sense :-)

  7. I also think i'ts strange that Everest gave me one set of values and now Adia64 is giving me another.. EXample.. My cpu is now telling me on idle temps @ 25c this is at 60%oc. eversest, probe, riva, has never given me this low temps... im gonna go back to everest as i dont really trust this new ADIA64.!

    It's AIDA64

Hmm! I'm sure we'll all miss you.

Don't forget to tell them on Guru of 3D how you proved me wrong. :)

    David

  8. OK.. i hear what your saying... But ever since i upgraded to Adia64 this glitch has happened... I have been running this system for over a year now with no glitches.. CPU is overclock 60% system runs flawless and to date i havnt seen a bsod or even a crash or lockup... so i really dont think its the mobo being faulty.. And i dont have anything connected to the pwr_fan.

Now we are getting somewhere! a note of 'maybe I'm wrong' in your tone :)

Run ASUS Probe II, or AI Suite, they both don't use any 3rd party application and access the mobo sensor directly, if you still see a reading, and I guarantee you will because it's shown in the bios, then begin to accept the fact that the PWR_FAN header may be damaged, maybe you spilt some water on it or it gave up after living with all that screaming noise those fans must make.... just kidding ;)

  9. Take alook at AIDA64's Sensors.. so unless your saying i have connected my psu to a chassis header or something weird like that. please refrain yourself from commenting any further

    Regards

P.S ignorance ='s fools that cannot admit when they are wrong.!

Look! AIDA64 reads the sensors on a mother board as provided by a chip the manufacture puts on the mobo.

The naming of a header as Power Supply is a left over from pervious convention and to be used by PSUs' that DO provide a seperate lead to monitor their fans, this header can be used for many other things, in my case I have a Corsair Memory cooler attached to it and I can monitor it's rpms', if you are right then when I viewed it I would be seeing at least 2 different readings, 1 x ram cooler & 1 x PSU fan.... I not seeing that neither is anybody else.

You cannot connect a PSU to any mobo header UNLESS the PSU manafacturer has provided a seperate cable for monitoring their fan and maybe adjusting it. The main cables coming from a HX1000 are the 2 power cables and a number of SATA/Molex attachments and slots to attach other cables such as PCIEx power connectors

There is NO fan monitoring connection.

Even the voltages and amps monitored by AIDA64 are NOT from the PSU but the variuos sensors on the mobo.

I don't have a clue what you have connected to your power header but it isn't the PSU, if you built the computer yourself you should know, if it's a store bought system then who knows!

Never assume you know more than the next person

  10. Dude i don't know where your getting your info from but my Mobo bios specifically states MY POWER SUPPLY Unit's rpm, everest tells me my psu rpm, rivatuner tells me oh and corsair just confirmed this for me but your saying NO.....oh please.! with all due respects fella but this post wasn't meant for you.!

    Regards

Oh dear! go here http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=71761 only a few PSUs' such as Antec provide PSU fan monitoring FELLA! a forum is just that! email suport directly if you want your ignorance to be kept privaste

    David

  11. Wrong.. I have always been able to monitor the PSU fan via everest. and the fact that underAida64 the rpm bounces from 718 to 0 supports that. Sorry fella but your wrong.!

Well actually I don't believe I am, the HX1000 has a fan controlled by a thermal resistor internal in the HX1000 case it has only a 2 wire connection and rotates in accordance to the PSU temp.

There is no external connection on the PSU to monitor the fan and it's rotation.

On modern motherboards there are a number of 'headers' to connect fans or other items requiring power and or monitoring, most of these are called case or chasis headers, however left over from the time PSUs' didn't have internal fans is the Power header but it is just like the others.

I don't know what your mobo is or what you might have connected to that header, but it isn't the PSU! and it isn't reporting the speed of the PSU header.

How do I know this! check my sig.

  12. 1) The temperature doesn't appear for any drives at startup? Or it's only missing for the primary drive?

    2) Does the temperature (or temperatures) appear 20-30 seconds after starting AIDA64? Does it disappear sometimes, even after it first shows up?

    3) Do you have such issues with other software as well? E.g. HD Sentinel?

    4) What motherboard and HDD(s) do you have?

    Thanks,

    Fiery

Yes mine too! not really a bug! does appear about 10 seconds after startup

    No issues with software

    Hardware in sig.

    David

  13. There you go, I just bought another 2 years of updates as I like the way AIDA64 is going and I think it will be monitoring my computer for it's life, which will probably only be another 2 years the way things are going.... if I'm lucky ;)

Can you make the sidebar gadget a little more in keeping with your very fine program? presently it looks and is about as configerable as a brick stuck on my screen.

    David

  14. Thanks for that I can live with your method, can you hurry up and improve on the sidebar gadget please :-)

    David

There's no sensor for clock speed, but there're several methods to measure the CPU core clock speed. AIDA64 uses a different method to e.g. CPU-Z, so that is the cause of the SpeedStep variance. BTW, in most cases when you disable all sensor features, and you monitor the AIDA64 CPUID Panel, the clock speed variance gets closer to what you can see in e.g. CPU-Z.

    Regards,

    Fiery

  15. Thanks, permiossions seemed to be the problem, now fixed

    David

Does your Windows user have write permissions into the installation folder of AIDA64? If you're certain he does, then please verify if the AIDA64.INI file is properly updated after applying Preferences changes in AIDA64.

    Regards,

    Fiery
