Alphacool LCD issues - Fix or replace?

Hello everyone.

I purchased AIDA64 because I wanted to display a lot of hardware monitoring information on my Alphacool LCD Panel. For months and months it worked flawlessly.

Here's what I'm using: http://www.alphacool.com/product_info.php/info/p669_Alphacool-LCD-Display-240x128-Pixel-Blau-neg--silver.html

Over time though, I started getting some mysterious lockups and couldn't pinpoint the problem. Eventually they got more and more frequent. Eventually,

my computer started bluescreening with WDF_VIOLATION (Bugcheck 10d) errors. Once I disconnected my Alphacool LCD panel, everything started working properly again.

I figure this is the culprit. I think it's not helping that the latest drivers are from 2007 and there's virtually no updates or support for this LCD panel.

I'm using an Asus X-99-E WS mainboard on BIOS version 1310 and I've updated to the latest version of Windows 10. The problems still occur. Apparently, Windows 10 is touchy

about outdated USB drivers and this is one of the symptoms.

While I like the Alphacool LCD, maybe perhaps it is time to consider replacing it with something made this decade. Preferably something with a higher resolution and in color.

The thing is, I can't find for the life of me anyone that sells a pre-fabricated 5.25" mount and LCD display which I can drop into 2 x 5.25" bays.

Matrix Orbital's GTT50 display seemed to be a good candidate until I read that it's not compatible with AIDA64.

I'm wondering if the mounting bracket for the Alphacool LCD would fit other LCD panels... and if so, which ones? I eventually have to remove it from my case, so I can provide

measurements eventually, unless some other forum member has one?

I honestly don't want to hack up a dual 5.25" bay cover with a dremel if I can help it, I'd rather have something professionally custom fabricated if nobody sells a commercial solution.

Please find attached a copy of the kernel dump file. You'll have rename it to .dmp and view it with Windows Debugger to see what happened.

Thanks everyone.

I understand your issue, but I'm not sure if there're any ready-to-use solutions that would fit your requirements :( LCDInfo sells a nice colour panel that may fit the bill (called USBD480), but it is just the panel, not a full device that could be slotted straight into a double 5.25" bay. As crazy as it may sound, your best bet might just be a cheap Android based phone/phablet that you could hack into the drive bay using a 3D printed (or otherwise sculpted) plastic frame. Then you could use AIDA64 RemoteSensor or Odospace:
