The whole case fan space is super competitive which is why all the big players have developed their own proprietary protocols so they can lock you into their ecosystem.  I'd suspect that they treat this like the recipe for Coca Cola and they're not motivated to release it publicly.  Unfortunately, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for this to happen - probably the only way to figure this out would be reverse engineering the data lines with hardware monitoring such as logic analyzers etc, and there's simply no payback (or guaranteed results) for that kind of investment.
