No Fan Monitoring or Control for ASUS Z9PA-D8 Server Mainboard

I have a new ASUS Z9PA-D8 server mainboard with dual LGA 2011 XEON CPUs installed and it's fully operational, well past burn-in.

 

The issue is AIDA64 Extreme does not monitor any fan information (no fan speed) nor is there any way to control/change fan speed.  Moreover, I haven't found any hardware monitoring software that can manage the fans on this motherboard.  The only way I can see RPMs (but not change them) is in the BIOS menu during boot-up.

 

I find this extremely perplexing, since you'd think admins should be able to at least read/monitor fan rates, if not change them.

 

Very frustrating!

Please upgrade to the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme available at:

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

 

If the problems persists, then please right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Sensor Debug --> ISA Sensor Dump.  Copy-paste the full results into this topic.

 

Also right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Sensor Debug --> SMBus Dump (Full).  Copy-paste the full results into this topic.

I downloaded the latest build (2656) and followed your installation instructions, but there is still no mainboard fan header monitoring present.

Thank you.  It seems your fans are connected to the IPMI BMC chip, instead of the onboard Nuvoton Super IO & sensor chip, so you can see the measured fan RPM values on the Computer / IPMI page instead of the Computer / Sensor page.

I was looking in the wrong sensor page.

 

Finally!

 

I can now at least monitor the fan speed outside of BIOS-- no other tool I've encountered achieves that ability with this server motherboard from ASUS.
