derik-for-real Posted July 3 Posted July 3 Regarding the GIGABYTE X870E AORUS XTREME X3D AI TOP motherboard, it has a build in 5inch screen, the screen is not controllable currently at all, it only shows multiple sensor data that changes in a loop automatically every couple mins I think. Gigabyte does not allow us to control the display, and I hate their software in general too. Mobo ; https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/X870E-AORUS-XTREME-X3D-AI-TOP Is it possible to find support and turn that build in 5 inch screen from the mobo into an usb display screen that can function as an actual secondary display screen, if yes that would be perfect, it would mean full control of the entire screen. I recently received the Motherboard but its not yet in use, please see image attachment, its an example to show how the screen looks in real time from someone who posted his build on reddit with the specific mobo I mentioned above. please let me know what you guys think and what options are available. We've sent a request to Gigabyte. We'll see if there's a way to handle the 5-inch screen of your motherboard in AIDA64. 1 Quote
derik-for-real Posted August 18 Author Posted August 18 OMG, thats really amazing, if you guys can manage this in some way, its a huge deal, I hope its possible, and I really would like to see the extent to the display, im looking forward, but I will set my expectation low, cuz Gigabyte has one of the worst thirdparty software. I recently had to interract with Gigabyte Germany RMA for the replacement of my am4 socket on my old mobo, I asked them about software support for their bulid in lcd on their high end mobos. their answer was that they dont have any plans to support it which is shocking. Essentially, all their mobo s that have released over the past generation with build in lcd display have no software support at all, and Gigabyte never tried to add support. Do you guys think, its possible to add support without Gigabyte involvement, I really feel that Gigabyte has very nice hardware but their software department is not competent at all. Quote

We haven't heard back from Gigabyte 😞 I'm afraid we'd need technical guidelines either from Gigabyte or someone else (a 3rd party) who knows how to handle the screen. Quote

Thank you kindly for trying, I tried it to ask them too to bring support for the display through software, they responded with : Thank you for your patience. We got the following response from our R&D team. Unfortunately, when this motherboard was being designed, the LCD screen was engineered solely to display system information. As a result, it does not support user customization for images or color control. Thank you for your understanding. I really think Gigabyte is shamefull, they did this across all the mobo they released with a display across 4/5 generation already, they all share the same design. I have collected allot of data about the Gigabyte Display on my Aorus Xteme x3d Ai Top, OpenRGB is also kinda involved because they are trying to help learn about the nature of the display since it does not operate through Usb, they helped me make a dump of the display firmware, which I did. I like to share it with you guys too, maybi you guys can learn something about the display for the better good. I have had it with Gigabyte screwing around with all the display on their mobo's, these display should be controllable outside of Gigabyte shitty approach to drive the display through the bios/uefi. In case Gigabyte's wrong and it is possible to talk to the screen directly and push image frames to it, and someone could come up with a way to do that and let us know about the methods to perform the image transfer, we'd be happy to implement it in AIDA64. derik-for-real Posted 30 minutes ago Author Posted 30 minutes ago I see, well OpenRGB looked into it more, and they said to procceed further investigation, they really need hardware access of the mobo to analyze what the display actually does, and when that is figured out, a sollution might be initiated. Tsunami from OpenRGB community is an expert in Reverse Engineering he has the expertise and also the tools to investigate, but the only missing piece is that he has no hardware access of Gigabyte Motherboard with display. From the research I did, no single soul has ever investigated Gigabyte motherboard screens, Gigabyte motherboard 5inch design has been applied across multiple generation, and there has not been any attempt to investigate it sadly, they all share the same display design in terms of how it functions and is connected. The only path forward is to have access of the motherboard hardware and let someone do a propper investigation of how the Gigabyte display operates, if the analysis reveals that there is a way to enter inside the display, there might be a sollution to control the display despite the design that Gigabyte intended for the display. I was hoping Aida 64 community could get involved with the investigation, but it seems like you guys are more focussed on Software instead of figuring out how a specific hardware works. I hope there is more awareness on this Gigabyte issue, and hopefully someone can jump in and figure out how to take control of Gigabyte mobo display. Quote
