Razer Blade 14 (2014) Fan Speed monitoring

So far I haven't seen any app that can monitor  fan speeds on the Razer Blade 14. Are they possibly just not providing access to that sensor data?

Most notebooks can only control fan speeds, based on temperature readouts, but monitoring the current fan speed RPM is not supported. Are you sure your notebook is capable of measuring its fan speed(s)?

No, I am not sure. I suppose that is most likely the case though if it's not available. I suspected the notebook was just changing speeds based on temps and feedback on the speed was unavailable. I guess it's sort of like "GO TO THIS RPM" without feedback that it's actually happening correctly.

Seems silly, but I guess that's the case. I guess the sensors of the typical LM78 are well known and if the fan speed is not reported then it's just not available.

Here's what AIDA64 reports on the sensors. It looks like it might see the "cooling devices" though there's only two fans, the PS fan doesn't exist (2nd cooling device 1). I suppose these are just default LM78 sensor probes and if it's not used then it's listed with nothing to report?

Please note that DMI information -- especially the sections your screen shot shows -- is in many cases incorrect or inaccurate. Your notebook features an Embedded Controller chip, and not a very old LM78 sensor chip :)

As for fan control, your system doesn't have to know any RPM values or RPM capabilities for your fan(s). Fans are controlled by changing duty cycle percentage, so the motherboard sets the fan to e.g. 0% to stop it (when the system is cool), or at e.g. 40% under light load, and 100% under heavy load.

If you could ask Razer about whether it is possible to measure fan RPM on your particular notebook, and they can provide us the necessary programming information, we would be happy to implement it in AIDA64.

My guess is going to be no. They are typically unresponsive about this type of thing. They won't even flash an updated BIOS without an RMA from what I understand.

It's a wonderfully designed notebook (if not aped tremendously from Apple). The reason I'm trying to figure it out is the CPU fan is buzzing at a certain RPM and I'm trying to diagnose it. I bought a brand new fan and that one is having the same exact issue. It's only at a certain low RPM that it happens. I haven't been able to see anything that looks like it's obstructing it, I think it's just the RPM it runs at when it's at one of the lower settings is causing just the right vibration.
