Fiery
1) Besides the integrated nForce RAID controller, do you have any other RAID controllers, SATA controllers or AHCI controllers in your system? 2) Do you have any USB or eSATA or FireWire storage devices connected to your system? 3) Have you tried it with the latest AIDA64 beta release? http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1170ws0dcy6mjxzip Thanks, Fiery
Major_A
1) No other controllers. 2) The only USB devices are my mouse and wireless adapter. 3) Yes I'm running the latest build. Thanks for taking the time to respond.
Fiery
Thank you. We've just checked it with a Win7 64-bit system + nForce RAID controller + a RAID array, and found no slowdowns at all. Are you using the standard Win7 driver for the nForce RAID controller, or you've installed a new driver downloaded from e.g. nVIDIA's webpage? If you don't use the standard Win7 driver, then please let us know the version of the nForce RAID controller driver you're using. Thanks, Fiery
Major_A
The driver that is bundled with nForce 15.49. EDIT Just tried v1.20.1176 and it's still slow. I noticed this time that it's slowing down at the "Scanning SMART Devices" detection. Point me in the direction of a screen capture software and I'll upload the video. EDIT 2 I just noticed that my drives in the RAID array are reporting their SMART temperatures. This is the first build that this has worked. Kudos. Fiery
Thank you for the feedback. We've done several test runs on our nForce chipset based test systems, but found no such slowdowns. However, I can see in your report that you have an USB card reader connected It may cause the slow-down, so we need to skip scanning that device. In AIDA64, please navigate to the Devices / USB Devices page, and press right-click on "USB Devices" in the left menu, and select Quick Report --> Plain Text. Please copy-paste the section (10 lines) relevant to your card reader into this topic. Thanks, Fiery
Major_A
Sorry about that, I forgot about the card reader. It's connected to a USB header on the motherboard. Nothing is in the drive though. Here's the info you requested and thanks for taking the time to check this out. Major_A
I found an app that let me shoot a small video of the desktop/application loading. It's not the smoothest video, apparently it records at 10 FPS but you can get the idea.
Fiery
Thank you. Apparently, your card reader is already skipped by the SMART code, so it's a bit weird that it's still slow on your system. Please try to issue the following dump, and let us know how quick it is performed: right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Disk Debug --> HDD SPTI Dump. Copy-paste the full results into this topic. Thanks, Fiery

Fiery
Thank you. It's rather weird that it stalls at the nVIDIA RAID array. If it's not too much trouble, can you please try to perform the same HDD SPTI Dump with the USB card reader disconnected? It would be great if we can narrow this down to either the RAID array or the card reader. Thanks, Fiery
Major_A
I unhooked the card reader and it was still extremely slow. The debug again stalled on the aforementioned line. ------[ AIDA64 v1.20.1176 Beta ]------ ------[ Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 6.1.7600 (64-bit) ]------ ------[ HDD: WDC WD16 00JS-22MHB0 SCSI Disk Device ]------ Device Path = \\?\scsi#disk&ven_wdc_wd16&prod_00js-22mhb0#4&17b640&0&010100#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b} ------[ Inquiry (192 bytes) ]------ 0000 00 00 06 12 5C 00 00 02 41 54 41 20 20 20 20 20 ....\...ATA 0010 57 44 43 20 57 44 31 36 30 30 4A 53 2D 32 32 4D WDC WD1600JS-22M 0020 31 43 30 33 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 1C03............ 0030 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 80 1E C0 04 60 ...........€.À.` 0040 04 C0 FE 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 .Àþ............. 0050 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0060 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0070 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0080 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 0090 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00A0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ 00B0 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ ------[ VPD - Supported VPD Pages ]------ VPD Page 00h: Supported VPD Pages VPD Page 80h: Unit Serial Number VPD Page 83h: Device Identification VPD Page 89h: < reserved > VPD Page B1h: < device-specific > ------[ VPD - Unit Serial Number (24 bytes) ]------ 0000 00 80 00 14 20 20 20 20 20 57 44 2D 57 43 41 4E .€.. Major_A
Updated to v1.50.1200 and it's still extremely slow. I'm not complaining since I value this as a must have piece of software. Just letting you guys know.
Major_A
Updated to 1.50.1212 and the problem still persists. This something on my end? Are you guys done with this claim?
Fiery
I'm sorry for the delays. It took us a while to come up with a -- hopefully -- proper fix for the startup delays, and to thoroughly test it on multiple nForce RAID configurations. Please upgrade to the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at: http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1219sdk6ngm0yczip After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade. Let me know how it works. Thanks, Fiery
