francisw19
Hello, I just got an Asus Sabertooth P67 motherboard for my new i5 build. One of the features of this board is the 'Thermal Radar' which displays the temperatures of several sensors on the motherboard (see attached picture). Would it be possible for Aida64 to get all of the temperature sensors in the picture. I really like Aida64 and it's nice to have all these readings in one place. Right now, I only see the 'Motherboard' temperature sensor. If there is anything that can be done, it would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Fiery
Thank you for the screen shot. We've implemented support for the new temperatures. Make sure to upgrade to the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at: http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1339qs1d0nycgrzip After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade. Let me know how it works. Thanks, Fiery
francisw19
Thanks for looking into this! I followed your steps to upgrade and have the beta version you linked to. Unfortunately, I do not see any new temperature readings. If there is anything you need me to do to help out be sure to let me know.
Fiery
Using the beta I linked, please copy-paste the full content of the Computer / Sensor page into this topic. Also, please right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Sensor Debug --> Embedded Controller Dump. Copy-paste the full results into this topic. Thanks, Fiery
francisw19
Hi Fiery, Thanks again for your reply. I have attached a screen capture of the "Sensors" page. I have also attached the Embedded Controller Dump file. Let me know if there is any other information you need. ecdump.txt
Fiery
Thank you. For some reason all special temperature registers are zero in this case. Please try to launch Thermal Radar, check the temperatures there, close it, and issue a new Embedded Controller Dump. Maybe Thermal Radar initializes the Embedded Controller to enable the special temperature readings. Thanks, Fiery
francisw19
Hi Fiery...I just want to be clear, do I need to have Thermal Radar installed/active to get the readings?
Fiery
Hi Fiery...I just want to be clear, do I need to have Thermal Radar installed/active to get the readings? Well, that's a hard question actually. In theory, the special temperature readings should be available by reading simple Embedded Controller registers, without any further software aid. But we suspect the readings are zero until a software enables them -- and that software may just be the Thermal Radar. So what I'd like to ask you to do is: install Thermal Radar, start it, check the readings in there, close it (you don't need to actually uninstall it), and then launch AIDA64, and issue the Embedded Controller Dump. You may also want to check the temperatures on the Sensor page after the EC Dump, since if our theory is right, they will be there. In case our theory fails, the other theory may be that you need to have Thermal Radar installed and running to let 3rd party software (like AIDA64) access the special temperature registers. We'd love to personally test both theories out in our labs, but we unfortunately have no Sabertooth P67 mobo in our "test fleet", but only a vanilla P8P67 that offers no such special temperature readings. Thanks, Fiery
francisw19
Thanks again, Fiery. It looks like you were right. I installed the Thermal Radar program provided by Asus, and now when I check the thermal sensors in AIDA64, it shows all the same sensors as the Thermal Radar. With my initial testing, you do not have to have the Thermal Radar program running...just installed. Presumably it initializes the sensors as you predicted. I've attached the embedded controller dump in case it helps to provide any more information to the developers. So, it looks like this works now. Thanks again for all your help! ecdump.txt
adolfotregosa
hello, has any progress been made so we don't have to have installed the asus software ? the asus softwares installs 3 services and that's what enables the others readings on aida64, but i prefer not have to install asus software. But the very "cool" part is that once the asus software enables the remaining sensors you can actually uninstall it, reboot your computer and they still appear UNTIL you shutdown your system. thank you
Fiery
As an experiment, we've implemented a method to try switching the Embedded Controller (EC) of Sabertooth P67 and 990FX motherboards, in a hope that the EC then will start measuring the missing set of temperatures without the need to install the Asus Thermal Radar software. We would appreciate if one of you could do the following test, to verify if the switch is valid: 1) Upgrade to the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at: http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1455u8nmy1wgcbzip 2) Uninstall Asus Thermal Radar 3) Power off (shut down) the computer, to make sure the EC gets back to its default state 4) Start the computer and Windows again, start AIDA64, right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Sensor Debug --> Embedded Controller Dump. Copy-paste the full results into this topic. Note: The experimental switch will only work on Asus Sabertooth P67 and Asus Sabertooth 990FX motherboards. Thank you. KockBurn
Just got my Sabertooth 990fx, I feel the same as the OP. I grabbed beta build 1484 and was glad to see that Aida is showing all the same sensors as Thermal Radar would. However I noticed that my NB temp seemed to be locked in at 34c as well as the PCIE USB and VRM all seemed to be locked in at whatever temp they were when I fired up Aida, even after running Unigines Heaven for 15 mins. I had my Mobo disc handy so I installed Thermal Radar and as soon as the program was installed and its services running I saw my NB increase to 40c. Just wanna know if this is still broken? Or maybe I broke something in my system with all the playing around lol. Any info I can provide to help? Thnx in advance. ** Scratch that 1484 doesnt detect NB etc without those services running from Thermal Radar. Strange thing was my control panel did show AI Suite II installed but Thermal Radar nor any of the suites other programs were installed, yet the required services were running on startup to give a reading although a faulty one. This would probably explain why the readings were locked and not updating since the last uninstall of it obviously didnt take. Sorry for the mistake.**
Fiery
I'm afraid you will still need Thermal Radar (part of Asus AI Suite 2) to be installed, in order to monitor the special temperatures in AIDA64. We've done numerous test runs, and tried several tricks on our own Sabertooth 990FX motherboard, but with no luck. Apparently Asus uses a special switch that is undocumented and one that we simply cannot figure out We've asked Asus for documentation on the Sabertooth sensors, but negotiations have broken down recently. We hope it's only because of the summer, and that negotiations will pick up in September.

ASUS Sabertooth X58 has a bug in ACPI that prevents the reading of MCHtemperature when the "old" ATK0110 interface is used. Add a DMI entry to override the detection heuristic and force the use of the "new" interface on this board. http://lists.lm-sensors.org/pipermail/lm-sensors/2011-January/031086.html

I'd much rather use Aida64 exclusively Good luck I'll be watching the betas. Thnx Fiery!
INSTG8R
I just wanted to chime in hear as a P67 Sabertooth User. The only 2 sensor readings I can see that aren't being read are the Vcore 1 and 2 (The VRM section) This is has been the case since 1.80. For me personally I would really like those 2 temps as I run watercooling so they aren't getting any kinda of passive cooling from a CPU fan. But outside of that it reads the rest of the sensors just fine.
Fiery
We've finally been able to figure out how to enable the special Thermal Radar temperatures on Asus Sabertooth P67 and Sabertooth 990FX motherboards. Make sure to upgrade to the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at: http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1957z0xbm6hgklzip After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade. Let me know how it works. Thanks, Fiery
