I can see the CPU fan in the bios and it's always on consistently, but in Aida64 it constantly alternates between 0 and the fan's current RPM. 0 for 5-30 seconds and then shows the RPM for 5-30 seconds and then back to 0, etc... The only thing that may cause such issue would be the proprietary fan muxing feature that ASRock uses on your motherboard (and a number of other motherboards as well). It effectively muxes the RPM measurement signals of the CPU fan1 and the CPU fan2 headers into the same fan register of the Nuvoton sensor chip. When another software (for example ASRock's own monitoring software called Extreme Tuner) alters the GPIO setting for the fan mux, then the sensor chip will reflect the fan RPM for the CPU fan2 header. I got the same issue on speedfan, CPU_Fan2 can be software controlled there but it doesn't show the RPM measurement signal either. Any possible way to fix this, so the RPM measurement signal of CPU_Fan2 could be shown in AIDA? I assume there has to be a way, when I check the UEFI the RPM measurement signal is shown correctly there (and there are two different singnals for CPU_Fan1 and CPU_Fan2). Thanks in advance! According to the guys from ASRock it's a software problem on your side and CPU_Fan2 should be readable discretely as well (as it is in the UEFI) :/ Any chance to have it checked out again? If it's definitely not working because of some problems on the mainboard side, I'll contact the the ASRock support again (and if you need me to forward some information I'll gladly do that!). As you can see, they're both connected to the same 16-bit register (reg0x58/0x59), and they are muxed using a GPIO-based mux switch (GPIO16). So reading both fan speeds is only possible if you switch the mux. But the mux ASRock uses is quite slow and tough to handle from 3rd party software We've made test runs, but then gave up, because we couldn't handle the mux in a way to assure the fan readings are always coming from the fan header we select using the mux.
