OK, Just how do you get a file called preview.jpg in the zip file. Can it be done in the sensor panel manager?

Great idea by the way. just got a lot of panel files to convert.

Yes, please do it in Sensor Panel Manager:

Please add "Preview.jpg" that you want to see as thumbnail as the first item (top-most) in the sensor panel manager, hide it, export the SPZIP, and this preview image will show up perfectly when importing.

Yes, add an image. I used jpg and I assume png should also work!

JPG, PNG and BMP would work equally well.

  • Fiery changed the title to SensorPanel preview at import and export

Thank you for your feedback!

Meanwhile, another user proposed the idea of automatically placing a snapshot of the SensorPanel (in other words, a screenshot of the SensorPanel window) into the SPZIP package at export, named preview.png :) That way the whole preview generation and management would be completely automatic.

The drawback of such an automatic preview generation is that it would increase the SPZIP output file size.

What do you guys think?

Hey,

I like this idea! I would love to not have to create the preview image by hand. You could offer the choice on export. Have a prompt come up at export with a check box asking "create preview image automatically?" with the default being off. Like this.

[ ] Create preview image automatically?

If you REALLY want to be ambitious ask about image quality also. Like this.

You may reduce this
size by selecting a lower JPG color quality.
90% 80% 70% 60% 50% 40% 30% 20% 10%
or Set specific file size
