I downloaded the latest Beta Version: 7.99.7805 beta (Jun 04, 2025) that scales all items up by 125%, 150%, 175%, or 200%.

I tried it on my 4k monitor with display scale 150% and it works great, everything scales up to 150% without enabling the 'Change high DPI settings. However, there is one issue: sensors that use blank PNG don't scale up on my primary monitor. I tried it on my panel and AIDA64 default skin, which has no blank PNG file, works flawlessly.

Purpose for using a blank PNG:

  1. To centralise the sensor items by using custom gauge, for example, 11%, 38°C
  2. To create a dial gauge that uses 8 sensors (I love dial gauge very much)

Can you fix or include the scales up for the blank PNG?🥹 Thanks.

The scaling feature only scales SensorPanel items but not images.  So the image files (BMP, PNG, JPG) you use for either regular images or as custom gauge states will not be altered during the scaling process.  The only aspect about images that is altered is the resizing dimensions.  But your layout doesn't seem to use resizing for images.

In order to make sure your panel is suitable for various DPI settings, you need to use high-resolution images for still images and custom gauge states and use the resizing facility.  As an example: if you need a 250x300 pixel sized custom gauge, try to use a set of gauge state images sized at 200% of that, so 500x600 pixels each.  Then, after placing the images on your layout, use the Resize parameter for the gauge and enter 250x300 there.

If you'd like to see an example of how resizing high-resolution images work for both still images and custom gauges, check the file called sensorpanel_default.spzip in the AIDA64 installation folder.

I see. I understand now. I just tried and it works. Thank you for your explanation.

Thank you for raising this. I did not test this but will do the soon :)

One thing that I noticed was: In Scaling, we can upscale to 125%, 150%, 175% and 200%; however, no option to come back to original 100% in the menu.

I think that option should be there! What you suggest?

If I understand correctly, the scale menu is to scale all items up, not to scale them back down. However, it would be good to scale down.

@Fiery, is it possible to implement an option to scale all items down after scaling them up? This would be useful for us to check if we miss any of the images without the resize option, instead of switching our resolution back to 100% display scale.

It's best if you backup your original settings before using scaling.  This feature was implemented to ease the migration from the old (v7.xx) AIDA64 to the next-generation AIDA64 (v7.99 and eventually v8.xx).  It should be used only once, when you experience the shrinking issue after migrating to the new AIDA64.  Once you applied it once, you should be good to go.

As for going back to 100%, it cannot work as a scaling-back, since rounding errors would cause one-pixel discrepancies.  An undo feature would work of course, but since this is whole scaling thing should be used once -- when you switch from the old to the new AIDA64 --, we aren't keen on investing too much efforts into it.

That's a valuable point - Thank you!

I’ve been following along, but it’s very confusing to me. @Fiery @BHSY, @Surjeet, I opened the sensorpanel_default.spzip file and the images are sized at 896x896 pixels with a resolution of 288. To ensure all scales work correctly without errors, do we need to create the gauges at this resolution?

I'm not sure which images you're referring to but for me, if I create an image, I will not change the default size and resolution. This will make the file size bigger.

Let's say I'm currently using a 1080p monitor with a 100% display scale and I created an image size of 200x200, 75 dpi for my 1920x515 sensor monitor. I have also input the image 'Resize' as 200x200 in the Modify Item.

Now I've upgraded to a 4k/2160p monitor with a display scale of 150%, and AIDA64 enlarged the image size. The image might look a bit blurry on a 150% display scale but if I shift the sensor panel to my 1920x515, which is 100% display scale, it will look normal and perfect. For me, there is no need to increase the default image size and resolution and the file size won't be so huge either.

I hope you understand what I have mentioned.

You can create any still images and gauge state images at any pixel dimensions, it's completely up to you.  But, if you wanna have for example a 288x288 pixel gauge at 100% display scale setting, in order to support high-DPI screens it's recommended to use at least 2x resolution images.  So in this particular example a 2x resolution image you should use would have a resolution of 576x576 pixels.  That means your layout would look great up to 200% display scaling which is what the vast majority of people use today.  In other words, rarely anyone goes above 200% display scale today.  However, since 5K, 6K and 8K screens are about to become more affordable and so more popular, shooting for 3x or even 4x resolution is not a bad practice either if you wanna future-proof your SensorPanel layouts.

In your particular case the advantage of using higher than 100% resolution for your images would be that the rendered SensorPanel would look sharp on your 4K main monitor (with 150% display scale) as well as your small secondary display.  Of course if you never wanted to use your layout on a high-DPI screen and/or you never wanted to share your layout with anyone, having blurry images on a high-DPI screen may not be of an issue.

For now, I am sticking to 100% display scale and keeping the images normally! However, resizing to the double resolution could be the future demand/requirements as I agree to Fiery that nowadays 4k monitors are normally with everyone !

Thank you for the explanation. I agree that bigger resolution will attract more size for the panel and further more saving time. For now, we may stick to 100% the way we are doing. However, we know what needs to be done if any requirement comes for higher resolution specs!!
