What are the conditions for the GPU memory usage to appear in the external Application sharing preference?

I have a Giagbyte GAZ68XP-UD3 with a ATI HD-6450 on cat 11.9 and they shows up fine...

I also have an Asus P8P67-Deluxe B3 with a ATI HD-6950 on cat 11.10 preview 3 and they dont show up.

Both GPU-Z and ATI tray tools have no problems detecting/displaying this info with cat 11.10 preview 3.

11.10 preview 3 is basically final, WHQL will be out tuesday.

The 2nd machine is my gaming machine, so its important that i stay on the most current Cat.

On Radeon video adapters AIDA64 can measure video memory utilization only under Windows XP. Do you have Windows XP on both your machines?

Thanks,

Yes, GPU-Z can do it, but we have no idea how it does it. We thought it does it via ADL, but it's not the case. We'll try to research more, but I can't promise anything at this time :(

afaik, they either check via DDraw, (though this has issues when reporting back more than 1GB) or use an undocumented driver method

The DDraw method doesn't work under Vista and Win7 anymore. AIDA64 uses that method under WinXP on both AMD and nVIDIA cards.

As for the undocumented driver method, yes, GPU-Z most likely uses such trick. Most probably it uses an undocumented ADL call, but we don't know more than that I'm afraid :(

We've implemented GPU video memory usage monitoring in the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at:

http://www.aida64.co...78fs2kxzgp9tzip

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Let me know how it works.

The measured values are listed on the Display / GPU page, and of course they can also be displayed on the OSD Panel, SensorPanel, Logitech LCD, or logged into file. Please note that GPU video memory usage data is only available under Win7 and Win8 (Windows Developer Preview). We might add Vista support later.

Thanks,

Hello, i would like to know if it's possible to have, like the cpu or the gpu core, the % of the gpu video ram.. i can only find video memory used and video memry available and they are ofc both with MB as unit.. i just need the used % ..

Thank You!

The Direct3D KMT calls AIDA64 use are undocumented, and as far as we know, they do not provide a specific "total video memory" info. Hence we cannot calculate video memory utilization at this time :(

I think you can make it with a simple way.. You have total video memory used and total video memory available, just make the the first one + the second one and you can have the 100%, than you can find the % of the used video memory =)

That's not necesserily the case when special tricks make it more complicated, e.g. CrossFireX, DualGraphics, HyperMemory, etc. We'll try to figure out a reliable method.

Awesome

Tracks perfectly with Afterburner

I just updated my licence because of this addition!!!

Thank you for the feedback, and for your support ;)

Any little news? =P

As I've stated, the Direct3D KMT calls do not provide the necessary information to calculate free video memory or total video memory. They only provide a used video memory data, and that's it.

Yes, I wrote that, and since then we've made more test runs, and haven't found a reliable method that would provide 100% accurate results :(
