Surjeet Posted May 11, 2024 Posted May 11, 2024 I want to know if this is possible to be added by the Developers: When we select Item Type: Gauge and Select Type: Custom, Date sensor disappears from the list. If we can add /have Date for this selection too as that will help to add Calendar or amazing date effects to the Sensor Panel: It would be good if we can only have the Date Number Sensor added from 1 - 31 and AIDA can fetch it from the date. If this is doable then hopefully we can also have sensor for Month Number from 1-12 or Month Name like "January", "February" etc. or "Jan" "Feb" etc. @Fiery: Would need your help to get this request/topic addressed or answered. Thank you in advance and look forward to your continued patronage! Quote

I have tried many times to try and find a trick to make a calendar with no success. I would like this feature also. 1 Quote
Garageman Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Having seperate "sensors" for date, month, and year in different layouts (OCT, October, 10, 2024, 24, leading zero for date and month) - either as "Simple sensor item", "Sensor item", and "Gauge". That would be a massive improvement for building new and more interesting sensor panels! So, that change request is very much appreciated - and from my perspective as a DevOps engineer not much of an invest (time and budget) 😉 Cheers. .:. lutz 1 Quote
Surjeet Posted Monday at 02:10 PM Author Posted Monday at 02:10 PM @Fiery This message was also lost somewhere and never addressed. Please let us know if this is possible and can be used? @BHSY @JariKoi @COSTAJUNIOR What do you think regarding this request as it will help a LOT while making Custom gauges and present date/month etc. on the sensorpanel. 1 Quote

Using a custom gauge on date/month? Sorry, but I don't think it is necessary and sounds kind of weird to me. I was thinking more of creating a clock with a moving hand image using the custom (n states) gauges. Edited Tuesday at 12:52 PM by BHSY 1 Quote

I tried yesterday but failed.😅 I have successfully created hr/mins using the custom (16 states) in the past but it involves a lot of sensors. I'm still trying out on the new (n states).😅 I Understand. Thank you for your transparent feedback and suggestion 😍 Think on the lines where your watch / clock can display like this too It will be MIND BLOWING as you are champ in such amazing creations 😍 Please give it another thought please 🙏 PS: This topic is followed by 6 people so I thought lets give it a try as its kinda Hot Topic 🔥 Quote

It does look nice to design something like that since I like dial gauges. Now, I am intrigued. I take back what I said earlier.😁 Hi @Fiery, is it possible to implement dates as gauges as mentioned by @Surjeet? Edited Monday at 03:04 PM by BHSY 1 Quote

Thank you for your re-consideration I also got a notification that @COSTAJUNIOR quoted me on this topic; however, I am unable to find his message. Would love to see the feedback if this feature is worth to be implemented!! Quote

Would love to see the feedback if this feature is worth to be implemented!! Hey! I also found the idea interesting and fully support the implementation of this new feature. I've developed a few projects in this style, but I noticed that the saving process became quite slow due to the large number of states created.😉 1 Quote
JariKoi Posted Monday at 05:04 PM Posted Monday at 05:04 PM I personally don't see this as necessary. But of course, make such a sensor if it becomes possible.👍 I suspect that the panel will start lagging. I probably won't be creating such a day or clock sensor myself. Or at least that's what I think at the moment. For example, if we were to use flipclock for temperature, we would need at least half a degree to be in use. For the time, it's almost the same thing so that the clock's time flip looks neat. I personally can't think of any other reasonable explanation for how to get the flip clock working.🤔 I must say that quite a few good development suggestions have come in now, and some of them have already been implemented.👏☺️ Thank you for your continued development and for providing new ideas.🫶 1 Quote
Surjeet Posted Monday at 05:41 PM Author Posted Monday at 05:41 PM I agree that using multiple states for clock/time can be resource consuming. However, for Days and Months only 31 images for Days and 12 images for Monthly names/numbers will be required which is very less as compared to 101 images we use for custom gauges. Mine main request is basically to add Date Days (1-31) and Month Number/Text (1-12 ; Jan - Dec) to be added to Custom gauge sensors as both of them will help a lot to create Calendar, Date, Month etc view to be created with ease With these two sensors, visualizations will be endless to be crafted on the sensor panel. 1 Quote

Well, now this clarifies for me too what you were after.😁 This isn't a bad idea at all if @Fiery can pull it off.🙇♂️ 1 Quote

Everyone seems to have a different idea on how would they like to see the date, time and portions of it (e.g. day of the month, day of the week, week of the year, hours, minutes, seconds, various formatting of month index or month name, etc) formatted on the SensorPanel. We're a bit vary of starting to go down that path, since it very quickly could escalate into a 100+ new sensor items just about the date and time... Don't take this as a hard no, but we definitely would need to narrow this down to a manageable set of new sensor items that would cater to most of your needs. 1 Quote

Regarding Date: I completely AGREE as date/time is a VAST field and everyone wants to see it as per their choice. This field has bad reputation for every database across world I was thinking to keep it simple: Date: 01 to 31 Month: 01 to 12 OR Jan to Dec With only these two sensors we can use 31 images to show date and 12 images to show the Month Value. We can even make custom gauges, number gauges, calendar etc.......... Its okay if this can not be added as I totally RESPECT your message and in sync with it completely!! 🙇 1 Quote
