Spynx
I loaded Windows 8 developer edition on my PC, but as soon as I start Aida (v1.85.1600) the pc hangs. I have to hard reset it. I also tried compatibility mode, but it does the same. Is there a fix for this? Thanks.
Fiery
We're in the middle of implementing preliminary support for Windows 8. Please upgrade to the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme Edition available at: http://www.aida64.com/downloads/aida64extremebuild1629v4wsd0ynzczip Let me know if it helps. Thanks, Fiery
Spynx
I tried it, but Win8 still stops responding. Thanks.
Arctucas
I believe it is absolutely fantastic that FinalWire is even offering any type of support for a pre-BETA release of Windows.
Fiery
We've fixed the ACPI layer of AIDA64 to suit Windows 8. Fiery
Thanks Can you see at which point (while loading up) does AIDA64 freeze? Maybe while scanning PCI devices? Or while enumerating RAID devices?
Fiery
Instant when loading. I cann't see what, PCI or RAID (btw I don't have RAID). Must press "Reset" button or "Off" PSU to restart again in Safe Mode, to clear start AIDA at win start up. Btw, NetUpdate working. Thank you. Is your SATA controller working in AHCI mode currently? Did you install a ForceWare driver?
Fiery
BTW, in a hope that we can replicate this issue, we've just tried to install Win8 on a Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3-iSSD system. The Win8 installer failed with a new-style BSoD stating "You can search for the error online: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED". This pre-beta Windows Developer Preview thing looks like it has a long way to mature We'll try to install it on another LGA1155 system. djmorgan
I find it hard to believe that those users attracted to Win 8 would have use for a program like AIDA64 !!!! let the flames begin David
Spynx
I downloaded the latest version, now it loads and freezes at "measuring CPU speed". I'm using a HP Core i5 Laptop, 6GB Ram, 500GB harddrive. Thanks.
Fiery
I find it hard to believe that those users attracted to Win 8 would have use for a program like AIDA64 !!!! let the flames begin David With the Metro UI it's definitely something you have to get used to But if you deactivate that nonsense, then it looks and feels much like Windows 7. Except that it doesn't seem to be stable yet. Which is normal, since Win8 in its current state is not even beta yet...

Spynx
Got the same problem as stasio, freeze after about 5 to 10 min.
Fiery
1639 (with Vista Sidebar) freeze immediately. Does it lock up if you launch AIDA64 without Sidebar support enabled? If that's the case, then please check if it locks up when you go to the Computer / Sensor page. BTW, which driver do you use for the GTS450? Did you install a Win7 ForceWare? Thanks, Fiery

Fiery
Please upgrade to the following new special beta release of AIDA64: http://www.aida64.com/specialbeta/aida64extreme_build_1641_apicdis.zip This beta has the APIC clock measurement completely disabled, to isolate whether it is the cause of the lockups. It will have a side effect of less responsiveness to SpeedStep and C1E activity, and also less accurate CPU core clocks will be measured. Please let me know how it works. ultimate_live
Hi. Will be an APPS for Metro (Windows 8) to monitor Hardware ? Because until now, I was using Aida64 Sidebar under Windows 7. Thanks
Fiery
We haven't put such new feature on our roadmap yet. But yes, we probably will develop something for the Metro UI. It will depend on the eventual user reception of Metro. BTW, in the next AIDA64 beta we'll roll out a bug fix for the lockup issue under Win8, so stay tuned
