DocCruncher
I like to load my Sensor Panel at every Windows 8.1 start up. It takes up a lot of space so I drag it BEYOND the bottom of the desktop screen so there is nothing showing on screen. When I want to use it I move the mouse beyond the bottom of the screen, click & drag it onto the screen. What I want is a way to make the Sensor Panel load BEYOND the edge of the screen thereby saving me the hassle of having to manually drag it off screen at every start up. Can this be done? Can an option for Sensor Panel Position be added to the Sensor Panel Preferences screen? Can this be added as an option in a future version of AIDA64? Thanks; Doc
Fiery
We would be hesitant to add such a feature to AIDA64, since it would let you lose the SensorPanel window completely. SensorPanel is automatically put back to the visible Windows Desktop area to make sure there's no such situation when the SensorPanel gets completely out of any desktop area and so get unmovable and unreachable by the user. You can hide/show the SensorPanel using the right-click context menu of the AIDA64 System Tray icon though. For most users it's a good solution to quickly hide/show the SensorPanel. Not necessarily so... I suggest allowing the user to set the Top Left Corner to ANY on-screen position including the bottom most pixel of the screen; this would technically still keep the Panel on screen (at the bottom most pixel but for all practical purposes hide the Panel (except for one pixel showing). You can hide/show the SensorPanel using the right-click context menu of the AIDA64 System Tray icon though. For most users it's a good solution to quickly hide/show the SensorPanel. That is not an option for me as I find it to be too constraining & slow (especially re-showing the Panel... to many steeps to get it back on screen). What is needed is a quicker way to Show/Hide or Open/Close the panel. See our previous discussion on this topic... http://forums.aida64.com/topic/2659-sensorpanel-hot-keys/ For me the HotKey would be the best solution. I hope that something can be done in upcoming versions of AIDA to allow the user better (and faster) control of Sensor Pane placement. Thanks for your consideration; Doc
DocCruncher
A couple of things that I forgot to mention on this topic... I have NEVER lost the Sensor Panel beyond the edge of the screen. There is always at least one pixel of the Panel still showing no matter how hard I drag it to the bottom of the screen. Sooo... it is pretty hard to completely loose the Panel (in Windows 8.1 at least). Please reconsider this request. Thanks; Doc
Fiery
I didn't mean losing the SensorPanel because you move the window out of the desktop area. I meant a situation when you either change your monitor or lower the desktop resolution. If e.g. you place the SensorPanel at a point of X = 1200 and Y = 0, and you lower the desktop resolution to e.g. 1024x768, and AIDA64 wouldn't automatically put the SensorPanel back to the new desktop area, the SensorPanel would become invisible to the user. And when that would happen, he wouldn't be able to move it back at all, since no part of the window would be visible or draggable on the desktop area. In such a situation the user would have to close AIDA64 and remove the relevant Registry entries using REGEDIT, which is far from being the most user-friendly or easy-to-handle method
DocCruncher
Yes, that would be a bummer but I have seen other programs in the past that simply had a Reset command that restored the window to the center of the screen (no matter what the screen resolution was) thereby resolving the issue. Also, if you simply added a Sensor Panel Preferences option to set the screen position that would also resolve the issue. My point is, I really don't believe it is (or should be) an issue at all with the right options available to the user. The problem is we simply don't have those options at the present time. Grestorn
A simple solution would be a configurable hot key which shows/hides the panel, wouldn't it? If you're providing a small tool for this functionality (like "ShowPanel.exe", which could be started with an option like /show and /hide) which could be started through a Windows shortcut, this could be done with Windows' own facilities, by defining a hot key for that shortcut. DocCruncher
Yes, the HotKey would be the best solution for me (and I suspect a LOT of other users as well).
DocCruncher
Yes, the HotKey would be the best solution for me (and I suspect a LOT of other users as well). I should say... HotKey AND X/Y Sensor Panel placement options would be perfect.
Dutch
SensorPanel X/Y placement can be done in the registry, but introduces all the dangers of editing the registry. Using the way-back machine: http://forums.aida64.com/topic/405-what-does-your-sensorpanel-look-like/?p=3527

Fiery
Yes, the HotKey would be the best solution for me (and I suspect a LOT of other users as well). We've implemented the requested Hot Keys feature in the latest beta version of AIDA64 Extreme available at: https://www.aida64.com/downloads/latesta64xebeta You can configure it in AIDA64 / main menu / File / Preferences / Hardware Monitoring / Hot Keys.
