Corsair Link Support

Hi

 

I know this has been discussed a few times but I feel the time is right to resurrect the discussion for supporting Corsair link monitoring.

We now have free tools available (HWINFO and SIV) that report back CL monitoring values for power supply, CPU temp but a shareware tool like Aida64 does not?

As I don't understand how difficult it is to implement, is there a specific reason why A64 does not have this functionality yet some free tools do?

 

I hope it gets implements as I strongly believe that all the disgruntled corsair link users would much prefer to not use CL software and rely on Aida64 instead.

HWiNFO and SIV directly control the Corsair Link hardware using the Global\Access_CorsairLink named mutex to synchronise access, however the Corsair Link application does not use this mutex so there are issues when the software collides. We've asked Corsair to provide us with a SDK to let us implement proper support in AIDA64, but they said the current Corsair Link framework is already deprecated, and that a new one with major changes is about to come out. We're still waiting for the new generation of Corsair Link to be released though... Corsair said the new framework will include a SDK that AIDA64 could use to talk to Corsair Link devices, without collision issues.

Does the February 19th Corsair Link update address the issue?

I'm afraid no. Corsair still hasn't got a SDK or other facility that would allow 3rd party applications to connect to the Link framework without using any hacking tricks.

We've implemented support for Corsair Link sensor devices (including Link Commander, Commander Mini, H80, H80i, H100, H100i, H100i GT, H110i, H110i GT, and various Corsair Link capable PSU models) in the latest AIDA64 Extreme beta update available at:

After upgrading to this new version, make sure to restart Windows to finalize the upgrade.

Please note that since Corsair's own Corsair Link software is not synchronized with any other monitoring software, it is very important to make sure it is closed, and also that its background service is not running. It's best if you completely uninstall the Corsair Link software. Due to the special precautions required to use the new Corsair Link feature of AIDA64, it is disabled by default. You have to go to AIDA64 / main menu / File / Preferences / Stability, and enable (check) Corsair Link sensor support to activate the new feature.

Let us know how it works on your system. If you find any issues, please right-click on the bottom status bar of AIDA64 main window --> Sensor Debug --> Corsair Link Dump. Copy-paste the full results into this topic, or attach the results as a TXT file to your post. You may need to enable status bar in AIDA64 / main menu / View first.

Is the AX1500i power supply intended to be supported?  Unfortunately mine does not appear to be detected.  I installed the Aida64 update, enabled Corsair Link support, uninstalled the Corsair Link software and restarted everything.  Unfortunately there are no additional sensors shown, and the debug dump doesn't indicate that it's detected anything:
 
I did leave the drivers for the "Corsair Link USB Dongle (1C02) (USB)" in place, though.  I'll try uninstalling them just to double check, but I'm not really sure how it could actually help.
 
Also, this is a "play" system, so if there's any additional information I can provide, please let me know.  I've done low-level hardware work before, though I'm generally a Linux user and don't mess with Windows much.  This just happens to be the one Windows machine I keep around for video games.

Edit: Uninstalling the drivers doesn't make much difference; the name of the dongle in the device manager changes, but Aida64 still doesn't detect any Corsair Link devices.  Here's what it does see:

Right now AXi PSUs are only supported when they are connected to a Link Commander or Commander Mini unit. That's because AXi PSUs use a proprietary USB protocol that is very tough to handle. We've already started working on it, and I'll let you know how it goes in this topic.

Please keep me posted too.  I have an AXi PSU as well and would be extremely interested in this.  The new version of Corsair link breaks my USB Dongle driver, and BSOD's.  They really don't know how to code for **** over there do they.  If you need any help with the USB work, please let me know.

The latest beta does appear to detect the power supply and read some of the values.,

 

I can see three temperature readings, as well as what appears to the line voltage (currently reading 121.5V).  SIV indicates that there are 31 readable sensor values, though I can never get SIV to actually read anything related to the power supply.  Obviously the Corsair software reads more values (when it actually works, which is occasionally).  It should be able to read out fan speed (though that's usually zero so perhaps it's just not displaying it), a large number of load values as well as something related to efficiency unless the Corsair software is just fabricating those numbers.

Thank you for the data. Fan speed should be available, but it will only appear on the Computer / Sensor[/b page when the fan is spinning.

Efficiency is calculated using pre-defined constants that vary across PSU models. It doesn't seem like something that involves a lot of science, so we are not so keen on implementing that reading :)

​Actually, I believe the power supply provides both the current draw from line voltage and the current supplied to the computer components.  (See the 88W and 110W draws above).  Efficiency is easily calculated from that, even if 80% does appear to be a bit low.  I do know that power supplies are less efficient when run well below their rated load.  And, of course, efficiency is probably the least important statistic that can be obtained from the power supply.

​It's really difficult to compare what Aida64 reports against what Corsair Link supports, though, for obvious reasons.  It's also rather difficult to actually get the fan to spin up at all on my system, which means it's difficult to do a comparison between the dump above and what the Corsair software reports.  But I can work on that if it would be helpful to you.

As long as the readings in AIDA64 make sense, and they look accurate, then no need to go the extra mile and compare all values against the ones provided by the Corsair Link Dashboard . As for the fan, what we did is set the fan duty cycle in Corsair Link Dashboard to a higher value, waited until the fan started spinning and Corsair Link Dashboard started to show a non-zero RPM reading, then closed the Dashboard, and checked the fan RPM in AIDA64. It worked fine on our test systems, along with the other readings.

In even more awesome news I noticed this thread having a 1200AXi myself and over the weekend I decided to work in an overall wattage bar in to my LCD Sensor Display. Its awesome but...

 

After a reboot,  the "power supply" item is gone from sensor list under "Power". I have tried the newest beta, removed corsair link, installed corsair link (but prevented it from running automatically) Removed the USB driver for the corasir link dongle, deleted the settings.ini etc etc. My log is below.

 

Please let me know if I should try anything.. Thanks!

In the state when the PSU power readout disappeared, please copy-paste the full content of the Computer / Sensor page of AIDA64 into this topic. Hi Fiery! Thanks for the quick response!  I Posted both the full content and the debug info. STRANGELY when I woke up this morning wattage was reporting! I am afraid to restart now since I dont want to loose it! The PC did not reboot overnight and no updates were applied (I am also using the beta from last week v 5.60.3739 - the new caused some strangeness that I couldn't attribute to Aida for sure but when I rolled back everything was resolved)

I decided to close and reopen Aida. Wattage reporting as zero again - the power supply shows up in Voltage Values but its missing now Power Values
